How it works

Pick what you want
Drop a .torrent or paste a magnet link. Seedwright shows every file with its size, and nothing starts until you tick something. The button tells you exactly what will happen: “Download 2 Files”.
Add more — any time
Liked episode 2? Tick episode 3. It joins the queue the moment you click, marked “Just added”, while everything already downloading keeps going. Changed your mind? Undo.

Pick before anything starts
Every torrent opens as a list of its files with checkboxes. Nothing downloads until you choose — new torrents start with nothing ticked.
Add files any time
Tick episode 3 halfway through episode 2. It joins the queue instantly. No restart, no recheck, nothing already downloading is touched.
Status for every file
Queued, downloading, done, paused or not selected — per file, with its own progress and how much is already on your disk.
Built for big torrents
Folders with tri-state checkboxes, Select All and None, and a filter that finds “4k” across a thousand files as you type.
Undo, and honest questions
Changed your mind? Undo the files you just added. Unticking a half-downloaded file asks whether to keep or delete what’s there.
Episode 1 finishes first
Files download in list order by default, so you can start watching while the rest of the season arrives.
Lives in your menu bar
Total speed at a glance, Pause All and Resume All, and everything else — with the main window closed.
Shut down when done
Start a big download at night and let your Mac turn itself off afterwards, with a 60-second countdown you can cancel.
Quiet notifications
Only three kinds: a picked file is ready, everything you picked is done, or a torrent stopped. The Dock shows progress.

Why Seedwright
The opposite of a feature-packed torrent client.
Most torrent clients are built around the torrent: download all of it, then sort it out. That’s fine for a single file and wasteful for everything else — a whole season when you wanted two episodes, a complete archive when you needed one folder.
Seedwright is built around the files. You decide what comes down before a single byte does, and you can change your mind at any moment without disturbing what’s already running. Less bandwidth, less disk, less waiting.
And it’s a proper Mac app: it follows Light and Dark mode, uses the menu bar and the Dock the way macOS intends, respects your keyboard (Space to tick, ⌘A, arrows), and stays out of the way.

Is Seedwright really free?
Yes. There’s no trial, no paid tier, no ads and nothing locked. If it saves you time, you can buy me a coffee — entirely optional.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It’s a universal app, native on both Apple silicon and Intel.
Can I add a file after the torrent has already started or finished?
Yes — that’s the whole idea. Open the torrent, tick the file, and it starts downloading straight away. Files already downloading or finished are not interrupted or re-checked.
What happens to files I don’t pick?
They’re never created on your disk. Pieces that a picked file shares with an unpicked neighbour are kept in Seedwright’s own cache, not as stray partial files in your Downloads folder.
Does Seedwright collect any data?
No. There are no analytics and no account. Seedwright connects to torrent peers and trackers to transfer the files you pick, and checks for app updates.
Is it safe to install?
Seedwright is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it normally. It runs with the hardened runtime and asks before it ever deletes data.
Is downloading torrents legal?
BitTorrent is a legal technology used to distribute Linux distributions, open films, public-domain archives and much more. You’re responsible for what you download — use Seedwright for content you have the right to get.
